She sat in the shade of a large tree, wearing a grey hoodie. She was chatting with a friend, who had placed a blue backpack by her right side. The grooves in the tree benches stood out prominently. The red earth and red dust felt calming. People were talking, breathing in and breathing out. On the table lay a yellow food bag. Nearby, a magenta blouse left on the dry grey wood of the bench was stirred by the hot afternoon air, and the surrounding environment felt at peace. J. H.
