Artist's profile

My paintings are at first glance abstract compositions that refer to a kind of landscape, perhaps a cosmic landscape, or a landscape behind a window on which raindrops are reflected and make it difficult to see clearly. They leave the format in the form of drips, and we try to find something behind the picture through their raster. Their formal way of painting unsettles the viewer by blurring, smearing, or dripping the paint, making it difficult to simply grasp the subject.

I am looking for a kind of digital form of landscape in the painting, a landscape free from humans, perhaps even an artificial world.

By looking for a prototype of the painting in the digital space, I distance myself from the painting itself, which is further confirmed by my avoidance of the brush. Pouring paint or spreading it with cardboard leaves a lot of room for chance. Sometimes, after the painting is finished, real elements, faces, or figures hidden in the abstract structure suddenly appear in the picture. Painting itself serves to cleanse the mind of the layers of everyday hustle and bustle. Alone in the studio, mostly at night, I may enter a kind of meditative state in which I create sometimes silent monochrome areas of undiscovered worlds, sometimes a strange tangle of unknown spaces.

In my animations, I mostly work with non-figurative, abstract elements. I like big contrasts and strong fluctuations. Not always is it just about textures. Sequences can contain a certain kind of narrative representation in parts, in fragments. Similarly, in painting, I like mistakes and nonsense or open interpretations. In my animations, I explore abstract landscapes, roots, microcosms accompanied by mysterious sounds. I like to experiment with both analog video techniques and digital technology. I am fascinated by current software, from which I draw inspiration, ideas, even for the painting part of my work.
