acrylic on canvas

Part of the curatorial text by Martin Varyš, curator of the solo exhibition High Turns at the Dolmen Gallery in Prague.

"Driving a car can be understood as a kind of dialogue between the body and the machine, which brings about concrete physical interactions and through which we develop a personal relationship with the machine. The thrill of acceleration and speed, caused by adrenaline, could be described by some as a form of sexual satisfaction. Which is somewhat paradoxical considering that adrenaline is a stress hormone that indicates danger and in this case a certain teetering on the edge of death, an accident that can have absolutely fatal consequences. The fascination with speed plays a noticeable role in the author's work. And not only the speed experienced in the seat of a car, but in our post-digital age of the internet, where any information is disseminated faster than ever before, it is the speed and overload of perception and information that characterizes our society and way of life.

In his paintings, the artist, in his peculiarly expressive handwriting, at times caricatures or even ironizes the characters of cars, as if giving them certain human and character qualities that touch on the very culture associated with this phenomenon mentioned above..."
